Efua Sutherland was a Ghanaian playwright, director, children's author, poet and dramatist. Sutherland was a fierce advocate for culturally relevant children's literature from the early 1950s until her death. She developed educational curricula, literature, theatre and film for and about Ghanaian children.
"Tahinta" is a unique rhythm play for children by Sutherland, and we're pleased to announce that we'll be producing an edition of Tahinta (with audio) this fall season, in partnership with Afram Publications (Ghana). We're honored to speak to collaborate with Ghanaian artists and publishers, and to speak to Efua's legacy in this way. We couldn't be more thrilled to share more of this project with you. Stay tuned!
